St. Charles History Talks: "St. Charles Final Resting Places"

9/21/2017 | First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site | St. Charles, MO

The topic of the Friends of the First Missouri State Capitol’s September “St. Charles History Talks” lecture is “St. Charles Final Resting Places.” Learn about the history of St. Charles' final resting places. Local historian Justin Watkins shares the history behind the cemeteries of St. Charles and the stories of some of the most famous burials.

Watkins received bachelor’s degree in history and music performance (piano emphasis) from Missouri Baptist University and a master’s degree in history from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  He has worked on research projects relating to Scott Joplin, Main Street in St. Charles (which included the discovery of a time capsule), the Katy Depot and westward expansion.  He is a member of the Board of the St. Charles County Historical Society and serves on the Cemetery Committee, which will be presenting a Cemetery Tour at Oak Grove Cemetery on Oct. 7.  See www.scchs.org for more details regarding the tour.

A $10 donation is suggested and includes a membership to the Friends of the First Missouri State Capitol.
