The 1.5-mile 1,000 Steps Trail was constructed by company 1743 of the Civilian Conservation Corps. in 1936. In fact, most of the outstanding stone work in the park is a result of their efforts, including the large stone steps that give the trail its name. You will encounter an overlook shelter built into the hillside, overlooking Big River Valley.
