1/1/2014 | Roaring River State Park | Cassville, MO
Devil's Kitchen Trail is named for an odd rock outcrop that formed a room-like enclosure, but has since collapsed. According to legend, the room was used as a hideout by Civil War guerrillas. There are also two caves and a spring that will be visited while hiking the 1.5-mile trail.
Hike time: 10 a.m.
Meeting location: Devil's Kitchen Trail trailhead (across from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) lodge)
This hike is one of many First Day Hikes taking place in Missouri State Parks. For more information about all of your hiking options, click here.
