During the Castlewood Resort's heyday, after a long day of water sports many visitors would use the “Grand Staircase" to access either the Castlewood Hotel or their summer cabins dotting the hills. This also provided easy access to an evening of dancing, gambling and drinking at honky tonks such as the Lone Wolf Saloon.
