MISSOURI STATE PARK ADVISORY BOARD MEETS JULY 18

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 15, 2008 -- The Missouri State Park Advisory Board will meet Friday, July 18, at the Comfort Inn in Macon. The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the inn, which is located at 1821 N. Macon St., and the public is invited to attend.

The board, which was appointed by the governor to advise the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on issues relating to state parks, will receive an overview of the division's budget and relevant legislation. The board will be given updates on the redevelopment of Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park, and development plans for Current River State Park in Shannon County and the Katy Trail State Park connection on the Rock Island corridor from Windsor to Pleasant Hill. Other agenda items include curation issues at the Missouri State Museum, a discussion on park fee proposals and updates on recent flooding. Reports will be given by the Missouri Parks Association and the Missouri State Parks Foundation.
