INFORMATIONAL MEETING AND PROGRAM IS
JULY 26 AT HA HA TONKA STATE PARK

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 14, 2008 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an informational meeting along with a program entitled “What’s the Story -- Past and Present” on Saturday, July 26, at Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton. The program begins at 7 p.m. and includes two speakers. The meeting will be held during a break between the speakers. Both events will be held at the park’s Post Office Day-use Area and are open to the public.

Ken Laffoon will begin the evening by sharing his knowledge of American Indians, including playing music on a primitive flute. During intermission, Larry Webb, park naturalist, will update everyone with the latest news and current projects at the park. Gary Plymell will then share information about his muzzleloader stories along with uses of items essential to early pioneers. Laffoon and Plymell are local residents that have an interest in their respective topics and have done presentations in the park and other locations. After the presentation, visitors are encouraged to ask questions and offer comments and suggestions concerning the park.

The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services provided in state parks and historic sites.
