AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER'S TOUR IS
JULY 19 AT ONONDAGA CAVE STATE PARK

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JULY 7, 2008 -- Amateur shutter bugs will have the opportunity to photograph some of Onondaga Cave's best features on a special photo tour July 19 at Onondaga Cave State Park near Leasburg. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the tour begins at 10:30 a.m. It is open to the public.

Amateur photographers are invited to join park staff for a picture perfect tour of Onondaga Cave. Ample time will be allowed to photograph some of the cave's best features, including formations known as Queen's Canopy, Twins, Lily Pad Room and Rock of Ages. Advance reservations for this tour are required. Participants must bring their own cameras and equipment. Conditions in the cave include limited lighting, concrete walkways, metal handrails, cool temperatures and high humidity. The walk is semi-strenuous and involves several hills. The walk is about one mile and will take approximately three hours. Participants should dress appropriately and wear shoes with good tread (no flip flops or heels). The tour is limited to 30 people. Regular cave tour fees apply to this tour. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages six to 12.

Onondaga Cave State Park is located seven miles southeast of the Leasburg exit off of Interstate 44 on Highway H.
