SKY HUNTERS PROGRAM IS JUNE 28 AT POMME DE TERRE STATE PARK

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JUNE 13, 2008 -- Owls, hawks, falcons, vultures and other birds of prey will be swooping down on the beach at Pomme de Terre State Park near Hermitage on Saturday, June 28. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the "Sky Hunters" program is from 5 to 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Naturalists from the World Bird Sanctuary of St. Louis will showcase some of these majestic birds in live flight presentations. Visitors will see different species of raptors, discover a vulture's secret weapon and learn how to identify a bird of prey in the wild. In addition to live birds of prey, kids can participate in crafts and games. There will be park naturalist activities, refreshments, door prizes and more. Bird lovers of all ages will take home a lasting message of appreciation and respect. Visitors are encouraged to bring a chair and enjoy a close up and personal view as birds of prey soar overhead.

Pomme de Terre State Park is located south of Highway 54, off of Highway 64 in Hickory County. The Hermitage beach is located west of Highway 64, on County Road 246.
