RAPTOR AWARENESS PROGRAM IS JUNE 21 AT SAM A. BAKER STATE PARK

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., JUNE 10, 2008 -- Learn about and see birds of prey at the Raptor Awareness Program on Saturday, June 21, at Sam A. Baker State Park near Patterson. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the program will begin at 7 p.m. in the park's amphitheater. It is free and open to the public.

Learn a vulture's secret weapon and how to identify birds of prey when the World Bird Sanctuary from St. Louis brings spectacular raptors of Missouri such as falcons, hawks, owls and vultures to the site. Get a close-up look at some of the birds as they soar right over your head. This program is suited for all ages. Seating is limited, so lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged.

Sam A. Baker State Park is located on Highway 143 about four miles north of Patterson.
