SPRING FOLK CONCERTS ARE JUNE 7 AND 8 AT TRAIL OF TEARS
STATE PARK AND BOLLINGER MILL STATE HISTORIC SITE
JEFFERSON CITY, MO., MAY 21, 2008 -- Spend a nice June evening outdoors listening to the sounds of folk music June 7 at Trail of Tears State Park near Jackson and June 8 at Bollinger Mill State Historic Site in Burfordville. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, these concerts are free and open to the public.
Jamin Bray, an interpretive consultant and performer, will entertain guests with traditional folk music. She has a professional background in both heritage interpretation and music and has performed at several Missouri state parks, historic sites, nature centers, Branson variety shows, clubs and other venues. She is versed in several instruments, and specializes in thematic interpretive performance or in "telling the story behind the music."
Performances will begin on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Trail of Tears State Park in the park's amphitheater, which is behind the visitor center. On Sunday, the performance will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Bollinger Mill State Historic Site's picnic area. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
Trail of Tears State Park is located 10 miles east of Fruitland, off Highway 61, on Highway 177. To get to Bollinger Mill State Historic Site, turn off Highway 34 onto Highway OO, then onto Highway HH.
