NEW BLUE YONDER PERFORMS JUNE 7 AT
NATHAN BOONE HOMESTEAD STATE HISTORIC SITE

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., MAY 21, 2008 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host a summer concert on Saturday, June 7, at Nathan Boone Homestead State Historic Site near Ash Grove. This free concert will begin at 7 p.m., and the public is invited to attend.

New Blue Yonder, a group of young women with a passion for acoustic music, will perform music from the early Ozarks, interpreting it with their own unique sound. With a sound that some describe as "soulgrass," they perform a unique blend of bluegrass, classic country, folk and blues in venues all over the Midwest. This concert will take place outdoors, on the front porch of the Nathan Boone home. Limited seating will be available. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Admission to the concert will be free, and refreshments will be served.

The historic site preserves the last home and grave of Missouri frontiersman Nathan Boone. Features of the site include Boone's 1837 log house, the Boone family cemetery and the African-American cemetery. The historic site is located 1.5 miles north of Ash Grove on State Highway V.
