Fishing

Fishermen can cast their lines for bass, walleye, catfish, crappie or even muskie. Pomme de Terre Lake is the only lake in Missouri that offers true muskellunge fishing. A fishing pier and marina are features on the Pittsburg side.

Fishing is allowed anywhere on Pomme de Terre Lake. For fishing at the State Park Marina, there is a $2 per day fee for adults and $1 for children.

Boat Launch

There are a total of four paved boat launch ramps at Pomme de Terre State Park. On the Hermitage side of Pomme de Terre Lake, one is located at the campground (accessible March through November) and the other is off of the Highway 64 and RD Road entrance to the north side of the park. On the Pittsburg side, there is a boat launch located at the State Park Marina and one by the open picnic shelter. There are no launch fees in the park.

Other Amenities

A park naturalist provides a variety of interpretive programs for all ages throughout the summer months.

Picnic Area/Playground

Picnic sites, throughout the forest and near the lake, provide a place to rest or enjoy lunch.

Large groups can reserve in advance an open picnic shelter overlooking the lake for a $35 fee. The open shelter will accommodate up to 150 guests and is equipped with water, electricity, seating and an outdoor grill. To make a reservation, please contact the park office at 417-852-4291.

There are playgrounds located at the shelter house and by the showerhouse on the Pittsburg side of the park.  On the Hermitage side of the park, a playground is located in the campground and is accessible March through November.

Swimming

Check beach status
The park's two public swimming beaches, located on both sides of Pomme de Terre Lake, provide a great place to cool off or lounge in the sun. The Pittsburg and Hermitage swimming beaches are open for the season and can be accessed from sunrise to sunset.  There is a restroom and change house facility located at each beach.
