The Outpost Cabins

Experience a new kind of camping adventure at the Outpost. Nestled in the heart of Lake of the Ozarks State Park, the Outpost offers eight rustic log cabins for campers who want to experience the outdoors without pitching a tent.

Developed in 1993 and upgraded in 2011, each cabin features tables and chairs, a wood-burning stove, electricity, a ceiling fan and lighting, air conditioning, supplemental heating and sleeping accommodations for six people. Infants and children count as occupants. These accommodations include two three-quarter size beds (sized in between a twin and a full) in the loft and one double futon bed downstairs. Tents or other alternate lodging accommodations are not allowed in the rental area.

To prepare for your experience, bring your camping gear such as sleeping bags, pillows, cooking and eating utensils, and water containers. The rustic cabins do not have running water, so plan accordingly. Cooking and smoking are not allowed inside the cabins.  As part of the Cabins for Canines Program, guests renting Outpost Cabin 2, 4 or 7 will be allowed to bring up to two dogs.  Detailed information on associated fees and rules can be found through the Cabins for Canines link in the upper right of this page.  Pets are not allowed in Outpost Cabins 1, 3, 5, 6 and 8.

Outside, each cabin has tables and benches, and a fire grill for barbecuing or campfires. A modern central restroom, showerhouse and drinking water, along with a central parking area, are located within walking distance of the cabins. Some complimentary firewood is included with rental; additional wood is available for purchase. Clean up and trash removal is the responsibility of the lodging guest and should be completed before check out.

These rustic cabins, surrounded by an oak-hickory forest, offer visitors a chance to watch wildlife from their front porch. A hiking trail encircles the cabins.

Cabins in the Outpost can be rented year-round. The 2014 weeknight rate (Sunday* through Thursday) is $50 plus tax and the weekend rate is $55 plus tax. These rates are for one to six occupants. *The Sunday of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends is subject to the weekend rate. Full payment for your stay is due at the time you make the reservation. Single-night reservations are not accepted.

Please visit the Centraliized Reservation System for Lodging page for other important policy information before making your reservation. Be sure to obtain a four-digit code upon making your reservation to ensure that you will be able to get access to the key to your cabin.

Cabin 8 is handicap accessible (proof of eligibility is required).

Yurts

Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers an alternate camping experience with its yurts. A yurt is a circular structure with a fabric cover, much like a tent, and a wooden frame making it strong and weathertight. It sits on a wooden platform with decking and has a locking door. There are three large windows to enjoy the view and a dome skylight that can be opened for ventilation.

The yurts are located in Sections 1 and 2 of the campground and feature a log futon, log futon bunk bed, a dorm-size refrigerator, coffee table, lamp, air conditioner and heater. The units sleep five with a maximum occupancy of six. Tents or other alternate lodging accommodations are not allowed in the rental areas.

To prepare for your experience, bring your camping gear such as lanterns, cooking and eating utensils and water containers. The yurts do not have running water, so plan accordingly. Guests must bring their own linens and sleeping bags. Open flame cooking is not allowed in the units. Cooking with griddles, crock-pots and other non-flame cooking devices is allowed. Smoking is not allowed inside the units. As part of the Cabins for Canines Program, guests renting Yurt A will be allowed to bring up to two dogs. Detailed information on associated fees and rules can be found through the Cabins of Canines link in the upper right of this page. Clean up and trash removal is the responsibility of the lodging guest and should be completed before check out.

Outside the units are a picnic table, fire ring and grill for barbecuing or campfires. A modern central restroom and showerhouse, located within walking distance, is available during the camping on season (April 1 to Oct. 31). During the camping off season, a vault toilet is available and water is available near the campground check station.

Both yurts are available for rent year-round and are accessible for persons with disabilities. The 2014 weeknight rate (Sunday* through Thursday) is $50 plus tax and the weekend rate is $55 plus tax. These rates are for one to six occupants (four adults and two youth). *The Sunday of Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends is subject to the weekend rate. Full payment for your stay will be due at the time you make the reservation. Single-night reservations are not accepted.
