Interpretive Programs

Interpretive programs are available at Iliniwek Village State Historic Site. Any person or group interested in a program or tour may contact staff at Battle of Athens State Historic Site at 660-877-3871 for information and times. Programs are offered on-site and off-site within a 60-mile radius of the historic site. Within the state of Missouri, distances traveled can expand but are limited to staff and time constraints.

Interpretive Trail

For visitors interested in viewing the site on their own, information and displays are provided. At the beginning of the trailhead, there is a brief history of the area as well as a introductory history of the Illinois Indians. This information is located in the kiosk next to the parking lot. A temporary panel is displayed at the site of an excavated long house. The posts are located in the original location of the house and they are the approximate size of the original posts.
