Maple Syrup - Made in Missouri

4/18/2015 | Sam A. Baker State Park | Patterson, MO

Did you know it takes 40 gallons of sap to make just one gallon of maple syrup? This delicious liquid was around long before Europeans arrived and because the season only lasts for about six weeks, this natural sweetener is a very unique and limited treat.

Join the Bearden family to learn the ends and outs of making maple syrup; when and where to start, how long it takes, what tools to use and much more! Come enjoy a sample and experience this old-time trade as they walk you through their experiences of making pure maple syrup.  Don’t forget to bring a chair and your sweet tooth!  Contact the park naturalist for program location.
